Announcing the 2024 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year, Gang Cheng

Each year during Red Hat Summit, we recognize Red Hat Certified Professionals who make a difference in their organizations by demonstrating enthusiasm, commitment and dedication to their role and industry. We’re proud to announce that Gang Cheng, a senior infrastructure engineer at Sopra Steria, has been named the 2024 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year.

Gang Cheng’s journey from an early interest in IT to achieving a variety of prestigious Red Hat Certifications, including Red Hat Certified Openshift Administrator and Red Hat Certified Engineer, highlights his commitment to open source technologies and excellence in the IT field. “Achieving Red Hat Certifications has been a milestone in my personal and professional development. It has proven my ability to tackle complex systems and projects, enhancing my contribution to my team and affirming my skills in the eyes of the industry," said Cheng.

Cheng has made significant contributions to improving operational efficiency, cost savings, and system reliability for Sopra Steria’s clients. According to the Director of Hybrid Cloud at Sopra Steria, Roger Samdal, "Gang is a true asset to Sopra Steria. He's dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable. Being a manager for Gang is a dream. He's one of our best when it comes to Red Hat technology." By leveraging Red Hat Learning Subscription, Cheng was able to upskill for complex projects, enabling him to lead initiatives like employing Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to patch and update large-scale Linux environments. Through the Red Hat Learning Subscription portal, he accessed learning materials and labs with ease, accelerating his ability to tackle new technical challenges as they come.

Beyond his technical achievements, Cheng actively participates in the Red Hat Learning Community, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and knowledge sharing. "The Red Hat Learning Community is an invaluable resource. It's a platform where professionals share, inspire and support each other, creating a unique ecosystem of continuous learning," said Cheng.
